Kevin Gardner is a 6'9" 220lb post from Pennisula H.S. in Palos Verdes, CA, a suburb of Los Angeles. In addition to an excellent High School team, Kevin also played for Rockfish a high quality Summer AAU team. In the summer preceding his Senior in High School. Kevin was not offered any scholarships in the early signing recruiting period. Approximately 75% off all Division 1 athletes sign in November, the first of the 2 major signing periods for Division IA basketball athletes. In early December, Kevin's dad retained Branch West recruiting services to work on behalf of his son, Kevin still had no Division 1A schools prepared to offer him a scholarship. At Bob Gottlieb's suggestion, his dad hired Fred Smith at video scouting services to film several of his son's high school games until we thought we had a number of quality game films to put together a quality film package on Kevin's behalf.

Once that was accomplished, over 30 Division 1A schools that needed post players were contacted by Bob Gottlieb. Each and every coach was put in touch with Kevin's dad, a copy of the film package, and a number of them expressed an interest. In the spring, Kevin played for the Branch West Spring team which is composed of solely unsigned seniors. Which gave a number of schools that had seen him on film and quite interested, a chance to see him play live. After sifting thru a number of schools that were prepared to offer him a scholarship, Kevin narrowed his interest down to the University of Denver and Boston University. Actually he was leaning strongly to the University of Denver until he visited Boston University on his official campus visit. It was love at first site, and Kevin came home deciding without question that Boston University was where he wanted to be. He signed with the Terriers in the April signing period.

At Boston University, Kevin played effectively as a backup post his first 2 years. His junior year, he started and averaged 10ppg and 6rpg. However in his Senior year he exploded, in which he was chosen all-conference, averaging 15ppg, and 8rpg. Kevin is now playing professional basketball in Germany.
