2. Kevin Delafu 61 SR PG Troy H.S. Kevin is the epitome of soundness and smartness on the basketball floor. He is a coachs dream in terms of being fundamentally sound, consistently playing within himself and running a team and choosing his shots with the maturity that belies his age. He has excellent toughness. He is also a very fine perimeter shooter and very solid playmaker and defender. He is a 3.5 student as well. Will be well recruited at the high D2 or low D1 levels. |
![]() |
3. Whitey Smith 68 JR 4/5 combo Brea H.S. Whitey is a talented low post scorer who is a very fine step out 3 point shooter with very good range. He has excellent hands, rebounds well and runs the floor with good speed. He definitely will be well recruited at the NCAA D2 level and has a gpa 3.0/SAT 880. |
![]() |
4. Frank Robinson 65 Prep wing Maine Central Institute Frank is a talented, explosive athlete and a go to scorer with the game on the line. He is a slasher who will dunk on you, but one with a soft feathery jumper with range. He is even more adept at putting it on the floor and creating his own jumper or drive. He led BWBA Orange to the Finals of Mats EBO Memorial Day Tournament. He averaged 18 ppg, 5 rebs and 4 assists/g this past year at Selmar H.S.. coached by the very likeable Bort Escoto. Bob Gottlieb has gotten him a scholarship to Maine Central Prep School for this fall. It is one of the premier prep schools in the USA. |

5. Marcus Lewis 67 Soph power fwd Long Beach Poly H.S. Marcus played off the bench, behind Long Beach Polys outstanding front line. For BWBA, he has averaged over 20 ppg and has become one of the Southland's top rising juniors. Marcus is a very good rebounder on both boards and plays with a ferociousness around the basket that belies his age. He just recently turned 16 years old this August. He has become a go to scorer in the low post and is beginning to add perimeter skills and experience to his game. Marcus has a very bright future if he can sustain his hungriness to learn and improve. |

6. Avi Fogel 62 Jr. combo gd Torrey Pines H.S. Avi has matured into an outstanding, athletic, true point guard who can not only run a team but also score both from the perimeter and on slashes to the hole. Avi is a 3.4 gpa and is being recruited at the Ivy League and Patriot League levels. Rice, Nevada, Pacific and others have also shown significant interest. Avi comes out of Torrey Pines H.S., coached by former Loyola Marymount Head Coach John Olive. John is one of the very best high school coaches in the country and all of his D1 prospects leave Torrey Pines ready to step into a major college program ready to play and step in as freshmen. |
![]() |
7. Tony Gonzalez 65 Sr wing Sunny Hills H.S. Tony is a powerful, talented wing who is an excellent all around athlete. He is a fine shooter from the perimeter, can slash to the basket and will handle it and rebound as well. He is also an excellent baseball prospect with good grades. He is a solid low major to high D1 wing who will compete and be a major asset. Very good student with a 3.5 gpa. |
![]() |
8. Josh Kramer 68 SR combo forward Torrey Pines H.S. Josh is a coachs dream as both a player and a person. He is one of the soundest, smartest athletes I have ever coached. He lets the game come to him. Has good all around ability and skills, but plays within himself. He is a first class perimeter shooter. He can drive and post up and is an effective finisher going to the basket. He is a mature defender both inside and out and a very good defensive rebounder. He is a first class mid major D1 prospect, who is ready to step in and play as a freshman and will not hold a team back from getting to the NCAA Tournament if you are good enough at the other positions. He is a major league complimentary or blend forward. Josh Kramer on the other hand is a solid mid major 3 man who unfortunately has played mostly a #4 man who can step out and hit threes both for Torrey Pines H.S. and BWBA Orange. Josh needs be recruited as true 3, as a face in the basket big wing. He has all the tools, experience and excellent perimeter decision making already, and needs nothing to be able step in and be a 4 year starter in college. John Olive, his high school coach at Torrey Pines, and the former coach at Loyola Marymount, is one of the best high school coaches in the country,. Between playing for John Olive and Bob Gottlieb, a former head coach at the NCAA D1 level with over 100 wins, at that level, and Josh Kramer's basic superb basketball instincts and decision making, Josh is as ready to play as any youngster I've ever coached. Coaches have questioned whether or not he could guard a 3. My opinion is that is garbage. In the 1st place he has superb footwork and is extremely smart and sound defensively, and with good team defense he should not have defensive problems. Nobody guards his man on the perimeter "on an island", so to speak. Secondly, Josh was a very tired athlete throughout most of the tournaments. He played approximately 40 games with his high school team and then went to the West Coast All Star Camp and the very next day began playing in the Full Court Press Tournament. In between the Full Court Press Tournament and the adidas Big Time Tournament in Vegas, his high school team played in the UCSD team camp, so he really never had a chance to rest or get his legs back, until he had 2 days off after the end of the adidas Big Time Tournament. |

1. Todd Martin 67 JR 4/3 Upland H.S. Todd is a first class defensive rebounder with very good hands, timing, and toughness. He also is an extremely fine perimeter shooter with excellent range. Todd has been working very diligently with Marv Marinovich and has become a very athletic combo forward who can play both inside and out. He is a first rate perimeter shooter with excellent range and a very good ballhandler in transition. Todd has a 3.58 gpa with a 1000 SAT score. He was chosen top 20 at the first West Coast All Star Camp run by the Pump brothers. Todd is an excellent low major D1 prospect. |
| |
2. Shawn Weinstein 61 JR combo guard Peninsula H.S. Shawn is a tremendous shooter with excellent range. He had a terrific year for a very fine Peninsula H.S. team where he was used mostly as a major perimeter scorer, and sometimes ran the point. He is a talented, totally committed young man, who has a scorers mentality. He can slash and take it to the basket, effectively, although primarily he is a perimeter shooter. Great kid. |
![]() |
3. Drew Terry 65 Sr. wing Northwood H.S. Drew is a major shooter/scorer. He is the son of Chuck Terry, the former L.B. State stand out who had an excellent career in the NBA. Drew is a young senior, with a terrific up side. He is a very fine perimeter shooter with excellent range. He also will slash to the basket and knows how to finish and knows how to draw fouls. He is an excellent student and should be looked at by all low to mid-major programs. |
![]() |
4. Derek Rasp 65 Sr. off-guard Camarillo H.S. Derek is a powerfully built off guard with a 4.0 gpa/1220 SAT who has a genuine interest in the Ivy League but will certainly consider a number of other NCAA D1 programs that are considered high academic. His Dad played football at Lafayette and several years with the Miami Dolphins in the NFL. Derek is also an excellent football player for his high school, but will concentrate on basketball in college. |
![]() |
5. Mickey Gonzalez 68 JR power forward Sunny Hills H.S. Mickey is the younger brother of senior standout Tony Gonzalez. Mickey has improved by leaps and bounds since the end of his junior season. He is a strong, physical insider who is a first class rebounder. He is becoming a solid lost post scorer as well. He also will be an NCAA D1 prospect in another year. |
![]() |
6. Chris Fields 66 Jr. #3 man Long Beach Poly Chris is a highly athletic perimeter player who will start for Long Beach Poly this year. He served his apprenticeship behind their outstanding front line of a year ago, and with experience, should begin to come into his own, as a NCAA D1 prospect. Well regarded veteran coach Ron Palmer heads up the Jackrabbits as always. |
![]() |
7. Pete DeCasas 64 Prep off guard Capo Valley H.S. Pete is a major scorer/shooter with excellent range. He is also an excellent slasher who can both finish or find the open man. He is a very talented all-around offensive player. Pete is a full qualifier who will go to Prep school, but who would prefer to sign for this fall at a D1 program that still has an open scholarship. Petes Dad was an outstanding player in his own right. Originally Pete Sr. played on Bill Mulligans super Saddleback Community College teams and then went on to an excellent career at CSU-Bakersfield. |

8. Drew Howard 61 Sr. point guard Loara H.S. Drew has matured into a quality scoring point guard. Last season, he led Loara to an outstanding year, and Drew was chosen All League, averaging 15 ppg and 7 assists. Drew is strong and deceptively fast. He has a soft feathery touch on his jumper and he sees the court and passes particularly well off penetration. Drew should be looked at hard by all D2, NAIA and NCAA D3 programs. Drew is an above average student. |
![]() |
9. Joey Lindquist 67 Sr. center Estancia H.S. (CA) Joey is 67 225 lbs. and is one of those players who just hurts people in and around the basket. He is incredibily strong and highly physical and is a genuine banger. His rebounding and general toughness and aggressiveness around the basket, has great value. Though his all around offensive skills are just beginning, he is showing vast improvement and should be looked at by all D3, NAIA D2 programs and some select NCAA D2 programs. Solid student. |
![]() |
10. Mike Hornbuckle 63 Soph off guard Oak Christian H.S. Mike is an excellent all around off guard prospect. His dad played college basketball at Redlands and I project Mike will be at the very least, an excellent NCAA D2 player and possibly high. Hes a very fine 3-point shooter and appears to be an extremely smart, heady player, that knows how to play. He has made great strides since January 1st since he joined BWBA for the first time. |

1. Jonathan Wiley 65 Sr small fwd` Westlake H.S. Jonathan is a very athletic wing with a great deal of natural talent. As an MVP All League player this past year at Westlake H.S., Jonathan has become an excellent perimeter shooter. He has an exceptional pair of legs and will drive and flush it with authority. In time, he will be a go to scorer. He will be a very young senior with a tremendous upside. His dad played football at San Diego State on scholarship. Jonathan may not be a D1 player right now, but could be in time. |
![]() |
2. Ralph Williams 65 Sr combo fwd Vista H.S. In my search for athletes to fill out BWBA Purple, I came up with a tremendous sleeper in Ralph Williams. Ralph is an undersized power forward deluxe, virtually unstoppable in the low post as a scorer. He has the innate ability to get a quality shot in the post, any time he wants. He is strong and supple, knows how to feel the defense and use his body, has long arms and a feathery touch. What level can he play. Who knows? Can he convert to the perimeter? Would you believe he has a 3.5 gpa and his coach says he is a great kid. |
![]() |
3. David Reichel 66 Sr combo fwd Camarillo H.S. David is a strong, physical power forward type. He is a very good rebounder and has a tenaciousness about him, in and around the basket. He also is a very good post to medium range jump shooter, and a solid student to boot. Should be looked at by all D2, D3 and NAIA programs. He and Derek Rasp on BWBA Red are an outstanding one, two punch at Camarillo. Former BWBA Red and Camarillo H.S. standout, 66 Jared Jungwirth, started and made All League Freshman for Cal State Monterey Bay this past year. David ave 15 ppg as a junior including 6 rebs/g shooting 35% from 3 point range. |
![]() |
4. Billy Hofman 61 Sr point guard La Canada H.S. Son of long time highly successful La Canada Head Coach Tom Hoffman, Billy brings that coach on the floor mentality to the point guard position. Bill knows how to run a team. He is a superb passer, especially off penetration, and a very fine perimeter shooter. He is a very young senior and thus has great upside. He has very good speed, is a smart heady winner. |
![]() |
5. Benjamin Paine 62 Sr combo gd Righetti H.S. Ben is a powerfully built off guard with superior playmaking instincts and vision . He averaged 18 pph and is a solid outside shooter. Ben knows how to play and is a strong competitor and an excellent student to boot. He has 3.3 gpa and 990 SAT score and should be looked at by all levels. Outstanding on the recent camp circuit. |
![]() |
6. Matt Hornbuckle 62 Frosh off guard Oaks Christian Matt is truly an outstanding prospect coming into high school. He is talented enough and mature enough to be commanding a half a game playing time on the varsity this summer. If he continues to work at it and improve, he may well earn a starting slot by early December. Has a very bright future. |
![]() |
7. Alan Kreymer 61 Sr off guard Ocean View H.S. Alan is one of the most improved players on a very deep Ocean View team. However, he is now commanding meaningful playing time and as a wing guard. He is strong and physical and comes out of one of the finest coached high school programs in California. Jim Harris has been at Ocean View for over 20 years, and is the Dean of Orange County coaches. Gary McKnight started his coaching career as an assistant under Jim. |
![]() |
8. Hunter Johnson 62 Sr off guard Torrey Pines H.S. Hunter has come on strongly this summer and has matured into a solid all around wing guard. He is a tough, physical defender, who will rebound and a solid offensive player who should be looked at by all high academic D3 and NAIA programs. Coming out of Torrey Pines, you know Hunter knows how to play at both ends of the court. Hunter is a 4.0 gpa student with an 1050 SAT score. Playing in the shadow of Avi Fogel and Josh Kramer, he is their defensive stopper and a tough rebounder on both boards. He gets his hands on everything loose, creates turnovers, and will score on medium range jumpers and slashes to the basket. |
![]() |
9. Michael Sisto 67 Sr combo forward Crespi H.S. Michael had a good solid junior year, but has grown several inches since the season and is maturing into an excellent combo forward who is a first class perimeter shooter with very good range. He is a 3.0 student with 1050 SAT score. Michael runs and jumps well, has good athleticism and should be looked at by all high academic schools at all levels. Dad is a well respected Orthopedic Surgeon. |
![]() |
10. Andrew Martin 511 Jr combo guard Servite H.S. Andrew is a committed youngster, who has put a lot of time into his development and has moved into the starting lineup at Servite. Plays both point guard and shooting guard. He is a very good shooter with range, a good ball handler, and solid defender with toughness, and should ultimately play in college at some level. |
![]() |
11. Lorenzo Keeler 62 Jr off guard Escondido H.S. This is one of the top rising juniors in California. Lorenzo is the youngest of three talented Keeler brothers who at one time all played for Escondido at the same time. One is at Santa Ana J.C., the second signed at UC Riverside, and this one has a chance, with normal maturity and development to possibly be a Pac 10 level player. Will play for BWBA in all games that do not interfere with his summer school commitments. |

12. Hylas Smith 61 Sr point guard Buena H.S. Hylis is from the well balanced Buena H.S. team in Ventura. Hylis led the team in scoring at 15 ppg, with 6 apg as well. He is a 3.5 gpa and has scored 1100 SAT. He is physically mature and talented as well. Hollis He is a scoring point guard and a combo to an extent. He sees the court well and is an excellent playmaker as well. |
